Delivery Driver (Assembly and Delivery) - 1st Shift - Springfield, Ohio
Job purpose
The Assembly and Delivery employee supports production, shipping, receiving, and logistics operations by assembling components, preparing shipments, maintaining inventory accuracy, and transporting materials and finished goods. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to follow technical instructions and work orders.
This position also includes regularly operating a company pickup truck with trailer (non-CDL) to pick up and deliver parts, materials, and finished goods to customers, vendors, and partner facilities. The employee must safely load, transport, and unload materials while maintaining accurate documentation and representing the company professionally during deliveries and vendor interactions.
Duties and responsibilities
Assembly and Production
- Perform basic sheet metal tasks including deburring, spot facing, riveting, trimming panels, and similar fabrication activities.
- Assemble components and products according to work orders, drawings, and assembly instructions.
- Perform minor electrical assembly as required.
- Read and interpret instructions, manuals, schematics, and drawings to complete assemblies accurately.
- Maintain organization of tools, parts, and work areas to ensure efficient workflow.
- Process orders with a high level of attention to detail in both product counts and shipping documentation.
- Pack and prepare shipments to ensure safe transport of products.
- Pull parts for delivery or shipping based on order quantities and documentation.
- Move materials and products throughout the facility to support production flow.
- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment (training provided).
- Pack, unpack, and move boxes, components, and materials as needed.
- Operate a company pickup truck with trailer (non-CDL) to pick up and deliver parts, materials, and finished goods to customers, vendors, and partner facilities.
- Safely load, secure, transport, and unload materials using proper lifting techniques and securement methods.
- Verify shipments and delivery contents against packing slips or purchase orders during pickups and deliveries.
- Ensure deliveries and pickups are completed accurately, safely, and on schedule.
- Maintain delivery records and documentation as required.
- Conduct basic pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the company vehicle and trailer.
- Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of the company vehicle and trailer.
- Communicate with internal teams regarding delivery schedules, pickup needs, and transportation issues.
- Represent the company professionally when interacting with customers, vendors, and suppliers during deliveries and pickups.
- Maintain compliance with all company safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support operations.
Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work with tools and assembly equipment.
- High attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn new skills and support multiple operational functions.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required.
- Ability to safely operate a company pickup truck and trailer (non-CDL) for deliveries and vendor pickups.
- Must maintain eligibility to operate company vehicles in accordance with company vehicle policy.
- High school diploma or GED required.
Working conditions
This job operates primarily in a fabrication shop, shipping and receiving, and warehouse environment. The role may involve some outdoor exposure throughout the workday and may require working in varying weather conditions when performing deliveries or moving materials.
The position regularly uses standard office equipment such as phones, computers, printers, and scales, as well as warehouse equipment including forklifts, hand trucks, tape dispensers, and box cutters. This position also requires operation of a company pickup truck and trailer (non-CDL) for deliveries and pickups.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move objects up to 75 pounds, and occasionally lift/ or move objects that weigh more than 100 pounds.
